Classroom Decorations

My room has been and still is a work in progress. I wanted to post a few pictures of how it looks so far. I got a lot of good ideas from pinterest, other bloggers, and just my own creativity and personal style.  I favor clean lines and bold graphics and so far I think it is coming together nicely.

I didn't want a theme but my color scheme is gray/yellow/black/white.  I hang up their published pieces that they shared with the class from each unit of study.  It is like having a hanging portfolio.  It makes it convenient when the writing coach comes for a visit or the principal does a walk through.  I plan to add the names of the units of study along the top.  the writers workshop pocket chart on the left of the board came from the teacher store.
Floor numbers have been my saving grace this year!  It has totally eliminated the pushing and shoving and personal space issues.  I will definitely be doing this every year.  Probably one of the best pinterest ideas for primary teachers EVER!  I used contact paper to secure the numbers to the floor.
I have a science word wall and I love it!  I don't teach math this year because my class goes to a different teacher for that but I might still put up a math word wall when I buy another yellow pocket chart.  My bucket seats are not finished but the students don't seem to mind.
I got the paint chip idea for the color word board from pinterest.

I cut placemats and taped them to the bottom window on black paper.
